NEW Black Series and Vintage Collection Figures

Hasbro has announced some new figures that will be centered around the fantastic 2003 series, Star Wars: Clone Wars. This 2D animated series had explored the time between Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. The series was created by Genndy Tartakovsky and had inspired the later longer running, The Clone Wars (2008). Tartakovsky’s series had introduced the menacing General Grievous, one of the figures to join this new Black Series collection.

Who Else?

Along with General Grievous, the other characters to join the Black Series will be the ARC trooper and Mace Windu. The packaging for these Black Series figures will also come in similar packaging to the original early 2000s packaging that the figures first came, in an effort to continue the throwback theme as seen in other figures.

The Vintage Collection will be seeing Aayla Secura, Luminara Unduli, Barriss Offee, ARC Trooper Captain, ARC Trooper, and Battle Droid. This is a large number of additions to hit the Vintage Collection. These six figures will come from existing releases that have new decos and will come with cards that are inspired by the Clone Wars (2003) series. Hasbro has also announced that thicker hardbacks will be a reality later this year and early next year.

Who Got This Exclusive?

Walmart was the lucky bidder who got the right to sell this exclusive. This is rough news for us collectors because Walmart is a difficult retailer when it comes to preorders. Those who do get preorders receive their packages in sub-par condition. The thicker cards seem to be Hasbro’s answer to the careless shipping from retailers like Walmart and Amazon. It’s about time.

The figures will hit the Walmart shelves in Spring 2022. There is also a Walmart Collector Con starting July 22 and running until the 25th. Maybe they will promise more careful shipping.
