Fourth-generation Hongkonger Baljinder Singh, 44, has most of his family in the city but used to make regular visits to Punjab, in India, where they originally came from.

The Covid-19 pandemic stopped his trips, but India’s devastating second wave of infections that began in February pushed him into action.

Singh, who works in security management and runs a Turkish-Indian restaurant in Sai Kung, has been busy raising funds and buying much-needed medical supplies to send to India.
