Cowboys at Chargers first injury report: DeMarcus Lawrence leaves practice with a foot injury

The first injury report for the Cowboys and Chargers game.

Week 2 preparations are in full swing for the Dallas Cowboys as they try to get in the win column versus the Los Angeles Chargers. The Cowboys held their first practice of the week after getting a min-bye with their last game on Thursday.

Dallas will be without wide receiver Michael Gallup who went on IR, defensive Neville Gallimore who has been on IR, and right tackle La’el Collins who was suspended. It’s also likely they will be missing defensive end Randy Gregory who is on the Reserve/COVID list and there doesn’t seem to be a lot of optimism that he will be off it and ready to go by game time.

As for current injuries, starting safety Donovan Wilson is still bothered by a groin injury even though he played through it against the Buccaneers. He sat out practice today. Cornerback Nahshon Wright was out for a personal matter and not injury-related.

The most worrisome news from today was that DeMarcus Lawrence left practice with a foot injury. At this point we don’t know anything more.

Some disconcerting news.

The mothership also reports this:

Also, safety Darian Thompson, who is technically on the practice squad but got elevated before game-time, suffered a hamstring injury that will likely keep him out. That could mean rookie Israel Mukuamu might get a chance to make his NFL debut this week, especially if Wilson can’t go.

There was also this unusual note about an injury at practice.

Assistant defensive line coach Leon Lett left Wednesday’s practice with an apparent right leg injury that required crutches as he exited the field. No official word yet on how Lett got injured during the early portion.

It’s unclear right now what happened, but we should find out soon.
