Bears vs. Rams game preview
The Chicago Bears come into this contest as more than 8-point underdogs. NFL oddsmakers give them little chance against the new and improved Los Angeles Rams. This offseason, both the Bears and Rams decided to move on from their starting QBs. Los Angeles traded Jared Goff to the Lions in exchange for Matthew Stafford. Meanwhile, the Bears brought in Andy Dalton to compete with rookie Justin Fields.
Stafford exudes quite a bit more confidence over Dalton, who was less than impressive last year when he stepped in to replace Dak Prescott in Dallas. The Bears, however, do have one thing going for them — an elite defense. Offensively there are several questions, but the defense should still be as dominant as ever.
The Rams went 10-8 against the spread a year ago with Goff at the helm. Now they have Stafford. The talented QB combined with wide receivers Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods should make for an interesting matchup. Will the stout Bears defense be able to keep up with the high-flying Rams offense?
I would be wary of laying this many points in a Sunday Night Football game. However, Sean McVay has been fantastic against the spread when given extra time to prepare for season openers.
Bears vs. Rams Prediction: Rams 31, Bears 21
